Mike Castillo, Ed.D. '00
Dr. Castillo has been an educator and school leader for seventeen years, primarily within Catholic education. He began his career as a social science teacher at Damien and has served in a variety of leadership positions including Director of Communications, Summer School Coordinator, and Dean of Curriculum. From 2017-2020, Dr. Castillo served as Vice Principal at Bishop Mora Salesian High School in Los Angeles. The 2020-21 school year marks Dr. Castillo's return to Damien in the role of Principal. As a Catholic school leader, he values the mission and vision of Catholic education as one that seeks to ensure the spiritual growth and academic success of all students.
Dr. Castillo completed his undergraduate education at Brown University, earning an A.B. in History. He also holds a California Single-Subject Teaching Credential (Social Science), an M.A. in Catholic School Administration from Loyola Marymount University, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership for Social Justice, also from LMU.
